Wilde Celebrations
Your people. Your way. Two exclusive-hire venues in Wales — one grand, one intimate — both built for celebrations that feel nothing like an event package. From small and intimate to celebrations on a grand scale, our venues in Wales are designed to bring it all to life. Whether you're planning a milestone birthday, a family reunion, an anniversary, a festival-style weekend with glamping, or simply a reason to get everyone together in a brilliant place.

The perfect backdrop for celebrations & family gatherings
Two venues, two very different scale. Wilde Lodge sits above the River Teme in Knighton, Powys — a 19th-century country house with 15 acres, stone barns, a bespoke safari tent with its own 16ft solid oak bar, a south-facing walled garden and a fire pit. Glasbury River Cottage sits on the banks of the River Wye near Hay-on-Wye, Herefordshire — a beautiful 3-bedroom cottage with a vine-covered greenhouse, hay barn, walled garden and the Black Mountains on the doorstep.

Celebrations at Wilde Lodge
Bring 300 people or 20. Hire a food truck or a Michelin-starred chef. Have a band in the barn and a fire pit outside until midnight. Or keep it simple — long tables, good food, the people you love most. We’ve seen it all over nine years and the best celebrations are always the ones that feel most like the people throwing them.
Celebrations at River Cottage
Bring up to 30 of your closest people — family, old friends, the ones worth the drive. Eat outside by the river or inside by the fire. Walk the Black Mountains in the morning and sit around a table together all evening. Or do nothing at all, because sometimes that’s exactly the point.
Celebrations
What occasions do you host beyond birthdays?
Almost everything. Over nine years we’ve hosted milestone birthdays, anniversary weekends, family reunions, retirement parties, baby showers, wakes and memorial gatherings, gender reveals, graduation celebrations and a fair few “just because” weekends with no occasion at all. If you want to gather your people somewhere genuinely special, both venues work — the occasion is up to you.
Can we really do whatever we want with the space?
Within reason, yes. Over the years we’ve levelled a lawn to fit a stretch tent, hosted a three-day festival, set up an outdoor cinema, had live Elvis performances and a silent disco in the same weekend. We’ve never said no to a good idea. If you’re planning something unusual, tell us — we’ll either make it work or tell you honestly if we can’t.
Can we have live music, a band or a DJ?
Yes. We’ve hosted bands, DJs, silent discos and everything in between. The safari tent and barns at Wilde Lodge work brilliantly for live music. At Glasbury the hay barn works well for smaller setups. We ask that music is kept to a reasonable level after 12pm.
Is there a wet weather backup?
Yes — both venues have covered indoor and barn spaces for whatever the weather throws at you. At Wilde Lodge the Long Barn, Open Barn and Safari Tent provide excellent cover. At Glasbury the hay barn and greenhouse do the same. We’ve hosted plenty of celebrations in the rain and it always works out well.
Is there enough accommodation on site for everyone?
Wilde Lodge sleeps 16–20 in the house. In summer, bell tents and camping pitches mean the whole group can stay on site — up to 200 guests. Glasbury River Cottage sleeps 7, with bell tents available in summer for up to 30 guests in total.
Do you have fixed packages or do we choose our own suppliers?
No fixed packages — you choose your own caterers, bar, entertainment and suppliers. We send you our trusted list of local providers once you’ve booked and help you figure out what works for your numbers and budget. You’re in control of the cost throughout.
